Om

Om

Being my first post, I thought I would explain a main concept that brings light to the name. Om – what is that you ask? It is originally a vibration. Later concluded as a sacred sound, ancient philosophers agree it to be the sound of the universe.

Being a sound that includes many other sounds or vibrational notes within it. The symbol for this sound holds basis for this company. Very fitting as it is also my first two initials. It has a deep and full history within Hinduism.

Furthering the ideal that it is such a sacred sound. The idea that it is the sound of creation, finding itself a prime symbol within this religion. The divine, or God as Christian traditions may understand it, if it were to have a frequency.

In many yoga practices people will meditate on the sound Om, so their internal frequency may be aligned to something so divine. It is also viable to note the sign itself has meaning. Whether this is understood in ‘sanskrit’ the ancient language of India and origins of yogic terminology. The word symbolises to ‘join’ or ‘unite’.

  • The symbol’s low and larger curve marking the normal state (Jāgrat). Where the mind identifies with the physical body, perceiving through senses.
  • The upper smaller curve is the unconscious state or sleeping (Sushupti). The state of unawareness, withdrawn from physical or mental activities.
  • With the middle curve showing the dream state (Swapna). The phase in between deep sleep and a waking state, where it is assumed people tend to explore the subconscious.
  • Finally, the crescent and dot. With the dot symbolising enlightenment (Turiya). Something for why some identify with the symbol of OM being the highest level within the chakras. However, the dot provides harmonisation with the absolute divine. Allowing recognition that all is made from the spirit and united in commonality. With the crescent representing magic or illusion (Maya), it separates the 3 curves from the dot.

Maya is the illusion that connects an individual’s soul to the physical or material world.

Finding itself to be at the heart of the company’s ethos, the physical and mental states; the subconscious and conscious ways of finding enlightenment. Creating differences by using Maya, raising karmic cycles to a better and more enlightened place.
